Every September, people from all over the world join the movement against the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. World Alzheimer's Day is a day to raise awareness and support those who suffer from the disease and their loved ones who are indirectly affected.
This year’s theme, ‘Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s,’ continues on from the 2021 campaign according to Alzheimer’s Disease International. The campaign is focused on warning signs, early detection of dementia, post-diagnosis support, along with the continued effect of COVID-19 on the global dementia community.
Over 50 million people worldwide suffer from dementia, a degenerative brain disorder that impairs memory, competence, cognition, and behavioral awareness. At the same time, there can also be significant physical, emotional, and financial costs to individuals looking after patients with Dementia and its many types.
As it impacts mobility in general, Medstar Transportation is here to help and promote awareness about the stigma and concerns surrounding Alzheimer's. We make every effort to provide the best possible care and service for the benefit of the patients and those who care for them. Let us all work together to obtain a better understanding of dementia and establish helpful responses.
