Strong Hearts. Safe Shifts. ❤️

February is Heart Month.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States— and what makes it serious is how gradually risk builds.

In our line of work, some of those risk factors are part of the routine.

Drivers spend long hours seated, navigating traffic and tight schedules. Dispatchers and office teams manage constant calls, screen time, and operational pressure.

Meals are sometimes rushed. Sleep isn’t always consistent. Stress can linger even after the shift ends.

None of this feels dramatic at the moment. But over time, it adds up.

Prolonged sitting affects circulation. Ongoing stress contributes to elevated blood pressure. Inconsistent rest impacts recovery. These patterns, repeated daily, increase cardiovascular strain— often without obvious warning signs.

These risks build from routine, and routine is something we can adjust. Small, consistent actions have measurable impact:

  • Stand or walk briefly during breaks.

  • Stretch before getting back on the road or between calls.

  • Monitor your blood pressure regularly.

  • Stay hydrated.

  • Aim for consistent sleep.

No extreme changes required. Just awareness and steady habits.

The work we do requires focus, endurance, and sound judgment. Protecting our heart supports all three.

So this February, choose one small adjustment you can maintain— not for a week, but long-term.

Here’s to stronger hearts and safer shifts this month! ❤️
